Buying Guide: Choosing the Best Scented Votive Candles
Selecting the right scented votive candles depends on multiple factors to ensure a satisfying and safe aromatic experience throughout your home.
Scent Profiles and Preferences
Consider what type of fragrances you enjoy—whether fresh forest scents like Frasier Fir, sweet and creamy French vanilla, invigorating citrus blends, or florals and spices. Multi-scent assortments offer versatility for changing moods or seasons.
Burn Time and Quantity
Votive candles typically burn between 10 to 12 hours, with some variance by size and wick type. Bulk sets, such as the 72-pack of vanilla votives, provide great value for frequent use or events. Smaller packs may suit casual users or gifting purposes better.
Material Quality and Safety
Look for candles made with pure essential oils rather than synthetic fragrances to reduce allergy risks. Wicks made from 100% cotton and free of metal components reduce smoke and minimize soot. Always follow candle safety instructions, including trimming wicks and placing candles on heat-resistant surfaces.
Design and Color
Votive candles come in various colors and packaging styles. Some sets provide multi-colored options that can complement home decor or event themes, while plain white or ivory votives offer a classic, versatile look.
Intended Use
Determine if the candles will be for decorative purposes, aromatherapy, emergency lighting, or ambient mood lighting. This can influence your scent choice, quantity needed, and candle size.
